Gangstas to Growers (G2G) is a social enterprise focused on building worker-owned cooperatives that provide opportunities for employment, empowerment, and entrepreneurship in agriculture for at-risk and formerly incarcerated youth. The mission is to end the cycle of poverty within our community, to provide a space of healing, to help support a black-run food system and to end recidivism.
Learn MoreGangstas to Growers (G2G) is a 10-month training program designed to build worker-owned cooperatives, providing at-risk and formerly incarcerated youth (ages 18-24) with opportunities in agriculture. Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty, offer a healing space, support a black-run food system, and reduce recidivism.
Our holistic job training approach encompasses various disciplines, including art therapy, co-op development, first aid, survival skills, environmental responsibility, carpentry, community organization, political education, creative writing, journalism, martial arts, yoga, and group therapy.
Sweet Sol is a savory blend of natural ingredients with a touch of heat. The spice will grab you then provide a taste of sweetness. Proceeds go to our youth, back into the program, and towards black-owned farms around Atlanta that we work with.
Why Sweet Sol? G2G graduates are members of The Sweet Sol Cooperative. Our youth grow and harvest the ingredients, then make the hot sauce themselves. Support your local community while infusing flavor into your favorite dishes!
Great news: Sweet Sol is expanding! We are placing a brief hold on purchases as we make this transition. We will be fully stocked again very soon, so come back and check us out.
Before I got involved with Gangstas to Growers I was in the streets. I was incarcerated in the middle of 2015 and, the experience, I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. I joined G2G in 2016. I learned people skills, I learned seeding, growing, harvesting, composting... It has taught me that I can grow food myself ‘cause I’ve seen it done. I have the power.
